Howdy Team:
We have SEVEN cyclists from Parker's Team signed up to ride to work tomorrow. Great! I know that there are also a few signed up on their own work teams, which is fantastic too. (I'm signed up at work)
The important thing is to register and RIDE - this is a bicycle advocacy issue. The more numbers that ride to work, the more cyclists are noticed by our city and county planners. This is how we get bike lanes and bike paths approved. I'm also hoping it will get noticed by the Police and safety folks too, we certainly need for them to understand that bicyclists have a right to the road and are legitimate commuters. Bike to Work Day numbers are looked at as qualifiying a city for 'bicycle friendly' status. We all know that the Central Valley could use more motorist awareness in this area. The Fresno Bicycle coalition hoped we would get a thousand riders, right now there are over 500 registered, that's a great start.
Biking to work on Bike to Work Day is a way to make these statements, please consider riding to work tomorrow.
Everyone, be sure to be safe, wear your helmets and log-in to register your miles.
We'll see Parker's Team on the road!
