Hey Cyclists!! You know who you are!!

Now that you are a cyclist – and you’ve PROVED it!   Help make a statement on BIKE TO WORK DAY!  Cyclists all across the Central Valley and across America will be making a statement by riding their bicycles to work on Thursday – May 15th.  It's all part of BICYCLE MONTH which was kicked off in grand style on Saturday at the Fresno Cycling Festival.  One of our exhibitors, Fresno Bicycle Coalition wonders why we don’t have a team – well, we do!

It’s easy - Sign up - TODAY - using the link below (cut and paste):

    Team name:  Parker’s Team

http://www.fresnobike.org/btwd/registration.html Then do what you do best – ride your bike on Thursday and log your miles on the same fresnobike web-site.  Fresno/Clovis will be joining great bicycling cities like Tucson, Phoenix, and Portland – all trying to make a statement that bicyclists should be on the road.   So join “Parker’s Team” on Bike to Work day.  GO TEAM!!

Hurray!  We're on our way.  I forgot to mention that this is indeed a little competition between teams.  So, as I see it, the other non-profit organization has three riders and we have four!!

I'm sure more of you can ride to work on Thursday?

Come on Team, you just finished a 100 miles; time to get back on the bike and loosen up those legs.

Re: Hey Cyclists!! You know who you are!!

    Howdy Team:

We have SEVEN cyclists from Parker's Team signed up to ride to work tomorrow.  Great!  I know that there are also a few signed up on their own work teams, which is fantastic too. (I'm signed up at work)

The important thing is to register and RIDE - this is a bicycle advocacy issue.  The more numbers that ride to work, the more cyclists are noticed by our city and county planners.  This is how we get bike lanes and bike paths approved.  I'm also hoping it will get noticed by the Police and safety folks too, we certainly need for them to understand that bicyclists have a right to the road and are legitimate commuters.  Bike to Work Day numbers are looked at as qualifiying a city for 'bicycle friendly' status.  We all know that the Central Valley could use more motorist awareness in this area.  The Fresno Bicycle coalition hoped we would get a thousand riders, right now there are over 500 registered, that's a great start.

Biking to work on Bike to Work Day is a way to make these statements, please consider riding to work tomorrow.

Everyone, be sure to be safe, wear your helmets and log-in to register your miles.

We'll see Parker's Team on the road!
