    My Mom (Coach Dan...Mystery Coach)

First, I want to congratulate evryone who finished their first century today.  What a fantastic accomplishment.  I wish I could have been with you on the ride.  Unfortunately, I am at UCSF with my mother who was diagnosed with Leukemia on April 30th.  As you can imagine this was quite a surprise.  I wanted to write to let you all know sooner, but it took a bit of time for me to actually be able to share with others.  I guess I needed to process it. I want to thank those of you who have called and texted to share their support for my family and my mom. Last Wednesday, May 7th they began chemo on mom and officially diagnosed her with AML.  They have not told us what type of AML she has( there are eight).  I saw her today and she is looking good and her spirits are high.  She definitely has a "can do" attitude.  She told the doctor that if he did his best she would too.  She then asked him yesterday if they were holding back on her treatment because of her age and he told her that he was doing everything he could without killing her.  She felt pretty satisfied with that answer.  As you know, if my mom sets her mind to accomplish something she normally gets it done.  This has been one of the most amazing journeys I have ever been on.  And I can only imagine how it is going for my mom.  If any of you are interested in seeing how she is doing you can go to the Caringbridge website, www.caringbridge.com and put in her name (annedritz all one word) under  the search icon.  Thanks again everyone for your support for me, my mom , and our whole family.  I would think between all the members of our family that have raised funds to fight this disease my mom's karma account should be full.

Take care of yourselves and see you on the road soon...

    Coach Dan

    Devon,

Thanks for all you did for Mom while she was at Community Hospital.  Unfortunately, I was slow on the up take to recognize you at the time.  Next time you go to work would you please wear your riding gear?  It would be much easier for me to recognize you.  Mom has finished her first week of Chemo and is doing okay for now.  Four more weeks at UCSF.  Then hopefully she will be heading home.

Thanks again for all you did for her.

    Dan

I think we should make it a Team Rule that all team members must wear their Parker Jerseys when out and about at work, on the town, on holiday etc.

Heck... would be good advertising for our team!
