Allow me to post an item a bit off topic, but likely of general interest. I have just received the Children's Hospital of Central California Nursing Excellence Report, and find an item of interest on p. 23, which mentions five outstanding members of that facility's nursing staff, honored for 2008, which include:
"Nurse of the Year Administration 2008: DONNA WYMAN, RN, Emergency Department
Donna has provided leadership and nursing care in a variety of settings during her 24 years of nursing experience....in 2002 accepted the position of Supervisor for the Emergency Department....She supports various charities by cycling. Donna is currently active as a coach in the Central Valley Cycling Charitable Association..."
I have quoted only a tiny portion of this accolade. A primary accomplishment under her leadrship has been effecting a 75% drop in the number of patients leaving the ER without treatment, by dropping the wait needed to see a physician by over half. Well done, Donna!
