    Oakley Sunglasses

    Hi Team,

As spring is right around the corner, longer days, more intense sun, sunglasses become very important while we are out riding. Oakley sunglasses have long been recognized as having the best optics on the market. You will find many Pro Tour riders wearing Oakley glasses. About a month ago, I purchased a pair of Oakley Flak Jackets, which is one of their new releases for cycling. I didn't spend enough time checking the fit, I just thought they looked cool!! Well after riding with them for a while, they clearly do not fit my face properly. I went back to Tri-Sport and purchased a pair of Oakley Radar's which fit me quite well. Thus I have a relatively new pair of Oakley Flak Jacket glasses, the frame is Jet Black, the lens is a Black Iridium. The lens are treated with what Oakley calls a Hydrophobic coating, which basically repels water so that you don't get the streaks on the lens as we sweat, or perspire, which ever you prefer. I must say, that is a great feature, it also prevents fogging. My original cost was $145.00, looking to sell them for $100.00 or best offer. My cell number is 916-2704. They are expensive glasses, but you will not find finer glasses on the market.

    Oakley and Lance Armstrong

Back in 1996, when Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer, early in his treatment, he was dropped by the French team he had just joined at that time, Cofidis.  That left the young Lance without any health insurance whatsoever. At that point, the President of Oakley put Lance onto the payroll, which entitled him to medical insurance coverage.  When Oakley's carrier balked at that, in turn they were advised that either they covered Lance, or they would lose the entire contract.  The company saw the wisdom of extending coverage to Armstrong. Needless to say, to this day, Lance wears NOTHING but Oakley!

Alan, thanks for the interesting story. FYI, the Oakley Flak Jackets have been sold. After wearing the Flak Jackets for a bit, and now the Oakley Radar's, I can attest that they are the finest sunglasses that I have ever used!! I highly recommend Oakley for those who may be in the market for a new pair of glasses.
